Fall Student Resource Guide

welcome fall students

First day of classes is Monday, August 18th, here’s what you need to know!

Welcome to SoLAcc! We are thrilled to have you join our community. As you embark on this exciting journey, we want to ensure your first day is as smooth as possible. Here’s a handy guide to help you get started and make the most of your time on campus

  1. Explore the Campus Map - Getting familiar with the campus is key to feeling at home. Take some time to explore the campus map and locate your classes, lounges, vending machines, and restrooms. Knowing where everything is will make your day much easier and more enjoyable.

  2. Set Up Your Email Account - Your student email account is your lifeline to important information. It's the official way that SoLAcc faculty and staff will communicate with you. Set up your account and make it a habit to check it regularly. This way, you’ll never miss an important update or announcement.

  3. Review Important Dates - Staying on top of important dates is crucial for a successful academic experience. From add/drop days and withdrawal deadlines to holidays, there’s a lot to keep track of. Check out the Academic Calendar and set reminders on your phone or planner to stay organized.

  4. Get Familiar with Degree Works - Degree Works is an invaluable tool that will help you track your progress towards your degree. It provides a comprehensive listing of your completed and in-progress courses, as well as any outstanding requirements. Make sure to familiarize yourself with this platform to stay on top of your academic goals.

  5. Log on to ConexEd - ConexEd is your go-to platform for connecting with faculty and staff, and for booking advising and tutoring appointments. It’s designed to make your academic life easier, so log in and explore all the features it has to offer. Are there any other features we want to highlight here? When I log in, all I can do in the system is book appointments.

  6. Download our Mobile App - MySoLAcc serves as your all-in-one access point to registration, financial aid, student services, events, news + connect with fellow students!

  7. Sign Up for Free Tutoring - Tutoring is available at our Academic Success Center and Communication and Writing Center in-person or online. We offer help with specific subjects, writing, and technology.

  8. Welcome Week with Student Engagement - Kick off your semester with snacks, swag, resources, and information on student organizations! The Office of Student Engagement will be popping up in campus hallways all week to help you settle in and feel at home. Check out the schedule here

  9. Apply for a Work Study Job - Looking for a Job? Apply for Federal Work Study! The Office of Financial Aid is now accepting applications for student employment through the Federal Work Study program.

  10. Need ADA Accommodations? The Office of Disability Services at SoLAcc helps students with documented disabilities access the support they need to succeed. Services are tailored to your needs and can help ensure equal access to classes, campus activities, and resources. Reach out to Disability Services to get started.

  11. Student IDs & Building Access – What You Need to Know

Your student ID is super important! It includes your LoLA ID number (used for logging into school systems) and also works as your key to get into campus buildings.

Getting Your ID:
You can get your student ID printed Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Just visit the reception desk in the Devalcourt Building at the Lafayette Campus, or your Campus Operations Coordinator at the other campuses.

Using Your Phone for Access:
You can also use your phone to enter buildings!

  • Download the Verkada Pass app from your app store.
  • Use your SoLAcc email to set it up.
  • Once it's connected, your phone becomes your access pass.
  • With the app running in the background, you can usually enter buildings hands-free using Bluetooth during access hours.
