Academic Advising

Academic advising is like having a guide to help you plan your college journey. Your advisor is someone who helps you:

  • Pick the right classes for your major or career goals.
  • Understand your degree plan so you know what you need to graduate.
  • Stay on track each semester so you don’t miss important requirements.
  • Explore options if you’re thinking about changing majors or transferring to another school.
  • Get support when you’re unsure about your next steps or facing challenges.

You don’t have to figure everything out alone—your advisor is here to help you succeed.

Academic advising is available to all new, transfer, and returning students through the Student Success Center.

Note: Advising is required before you can schedule classes. If you do not meet with an advisor, there will be a hold on your account.

Placement for English & Math Courses

Placement ensures you're enrolled in the correct Math and English courses based on your current skill level. At SoLAcc, placement is determined by your ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer Next Generation (NG) test scores.

Don't Have Test Scores?

No problem! SoLAcc offers Accuplacer NG testing at each campus. You can register for testing through the Accuplacer webpage.
