PREP MLS: Opening Doors to Medical Laboratory Science Careers

instructor and students in medical lab

SoLAcc’s new PREP MLS cohort is creating pathways for rural Acadiana students to enter the fast-growing field of Medical Laboratory Science. Starting at SoLAcc, students will train to analyze blood and body fluids, perform diagnostic testing, and interpret lab results—skills vital for healthcare and forensic work. Graduates can continue their studies toward a bachelor’s degree at UL Lafayette.

The Fall 2025 cohort has accepted 9 students from the parishes of Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion. This cohort is made possible through a joint grant venture between UL Lafayette and SoLAcc, funded by the Delta Regional Authority.
