Citizens in Evangeline Parish who want to earn their high school equivalency diploma will be able to do so close to home. ¾«¶«´«Ã½ is expanding its Adult Education Program to its C.B. Coreil Campus in Ville Platte.

More than $30,000 in scholarships was awarded to students at ¾«¶«´«Ã½ for the current Fall semester.

Student Government Organizations at SLCC are competing with one another this month - all for a good cause. The groups are collecting food donations throughout September – Hunger Action Month. The organization that collects the most donations will win prize. The contest – which kicked off Sept. 5 – is sponsored by the Student Government Association.

All ¾«¶«´«Ã½ campuses and sites will be open August 31, 2017, and classes will be held as normal.

All ¾«¶«´«Ã½ campuses and sites will be closed Wednesday, August 30. The college expects to open and resume classes on Thursday, August 31.

All ¾«¶«´«Ã½ campuses and sites will be closed today, Tuesday, August 29, because of inclement weather. Please take caution if you must travel today.

As of this evening, there's no change in the earlier update in terms of weather-related closures. Campus officials are continuing to monitor weather reports and updates will be issued as necessary. The following message is still accurate.

¾«¶«´«Ã½ campuses in Abbeville, New Iberia (including the International School of Aviation Excellence), and St. Martinville are closed for the remainder of today, August 28 because of inclement weather. The Abbeville and New Iberia campuses will remain closed Tuesday, August 29. Administrators are continuing to monitor weather conditions. Updates will be posted to the college's website, social media accounts, and in local media.

An update to the GI Bill signed into law yesterday will give veterans more access to a college a degree. The Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017, named after the American Legion national commander who wrote the original GI Bill language in 1944, is the largest expansion of college assistance for military veterans in a decade.

The ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Foundation accepted a $5,000 donation from the Heart of Nursing Committee and Lafayette General Health in support of SLCC’s Registered Nursing program today.

Welcome Back for Fall 2017!

The first day of the Fall 2017 started today on all campuses. Check out photos from our campuses around Acadiana on Facebook. The day was filled with smiling faces!

Students have the opportunity to take advantage of 50 college courses free of charge, courtesy of the Hugh and Byrnes Young Foundation’s Scholars program. This is the Young Foundation’s second consecutive sponsorship of college courses at the Young Memorial Campus in Morgan City. This fall, the Young Foundation has expanded the free courses to any student attending the Young Memorial campus and taking a general education course.
