In this 150 hour-course, will prepare you for employment in the aviation industry. Aircraft sheet metal technicians fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair the metal parts of an aircraft. You may work with other materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, or bonded honeycomb.

Job Opportunities

Aircraft Sheet Metal Technicians may lay out plans for assembly or installation on an aircraft based on the engineer's blueprints, manufacturer’s repair manual, or FAA advisory circular.
The job duties may include:

  • Sizing and cutting the metal components
  • Forming and shaping of sheet metal
  • Coating and preserving components from corrosion
  • Drilling, countersinking, riveting, and other fastening methods
  • Cleaning and maintaining power tools and other equipment
  • Removal and installation of structural components on aircraft.
  • Use of precision measuring devices. i.e.; micrometer, ball gauges, dial calipers, scales and all other calibrated devices.
  • Maintaining documented records of work accomplished
